
Amritsar, Dec. 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road observed the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur ji in its premises. He was the nineth of ten gurus of Sikh Religion. He resisted the forced conversions of Kashmiri Pandits to Islam and was publically beheaded in 1675 on the orders of Mugal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam. He was a pious soul who contributed many hymns to the Guru Granth Sahib including the shaloks and couplets. He was known for his poetic hymns. Students of the school paid obeisance to this great soul. They recited shabads, narrated incidents from his life and read out his teachings in the school assembly that how he taught the people about the importance of oneness of all humankind, selfless service and righteousness. Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar advised the students to draw inspiration from the teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur ji and work for the welfare of the society. Dr.Neera Sharma , Principal of the school paid tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur ji and told the students to renew their commitment to peace and non – violence and strive to unite all humanity under the umbrella of common brotherhood.
