Chief Khalsa Diwan observes 145th Birth Anniversary of Bhai Veer Singh

Amritsar, Dec 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To commemorate the 145^th Birth Anniversary of the Punjabi Poet Laureate also known as the 6^th river of Punjab Bhai Veer Singh Ji, Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society organized a programme in Guru Arjan Dev Auditorim of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, G. T. Road. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Davinder Pal Singh Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina pro chanceller witnessed the event as Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by Charanjit Singh Chadha President CKDCS. He said that Bhai Veer Singh played a significant role in the foundation of Chief Khalsa Diwan and Chief Khalsa Diwan is proud of having such a great man with integrated personality as a founder of CKD. Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon Honorary Secretary Educational Committee acted as programme stage secretary, who extended a warm welcome to the guests. Dr. S. P. Singh former VC of GNDU briefed about the contributions made by Bhai Veer Singh Ji in the field of Punjabi Poetry and Literature.

On this occasion a book ‘Bhai Veer Singh – An introduction’ written by Dr. Harchand Singh Bedi, Director Bhai Veer Singh Research Centre was released along with new edition of ‘Nirguniara’ and ‘Khalsa Advocate’ published by the Khalsa Tract Society. The decision to link up Bhai Veer Singh Research Centre with Khalsa University was welcomed by Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. He assured all possible assistance and coooperation from Khalsa University to Bhai Veer Singh Research Centre running under CKD. Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society honoured Davinder Pal Singh Kharbanda and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina on the occasion. A special honour was bestowed upon Charanjit Singh Chadha President CKDCThe winners of the various competitions such as poetry elocution, speech and poster making related with the life of the Punjabi poet were honoured on the occasion. A short Punjabi play directed by Narinder Sanghi was also presented showcasing the life, contribution and achievements of Bhai Veer Singh which was applauded by everyone.

                 Davinder Pal Singh Kharbanda appreciated Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society for paying a tribute and celebrating the birth anniversary of the great poet laureate.
