BBK DAV College Women lifts Gndu Inter-College Weight Lifting Championship

Amritsar, January 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Weight Lifting team of BBK DAV College for Women won the GNDU Inter-College Weight Lifting Championship held at DAV Complex, Shastri Nagar, Amritsar. College team put up a splendid show by defeating HMV College, Jalandhar, GNDU Campus, Amritsar, BD Arya College, Jalandhar Cantt. and Bebe Nanki College, Dhariwal.

Team members were Ms. Navjot Karu, Manpreet Kaur, Manalisha Sonowal, Gagandeep Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Sukhmanpreet Kaur and Manpreet Kaur. Five players of college Navjot Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Manalisha Sonowal and Gagandeep Kaur got selected for All India Intervarsity Championship going to be held in February 2017 at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Ms. Manalisha Sonowal also won a bronze medal in Senior National Weight Lifting Championship held at Kerala in December 2016.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the young achievers and motivated them to maintain their performance in future as well. She added that the college players have always made a mark in various championships and, as a result, BBK DAV is a forerunner in sports. Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with faculty members, and Weight LIfting Coaches Daljinder Singh and Baljeet Singh felicitated the players on their achievements.
