Huge amounts found during TDS Range Income-tax Surveys in the City

Amritsar, February 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The local office of the TDS Range of the Income-tax department Ludhiana has conducted two back to back surveys in the city.

The first One was on Kandhari Beverages on 06-02-2017 who are the leading distributors of a soft drink in North India,and another on 07-02-2017 on Randhawa Hospital, Mall Road, Amritsar. Both the surveys were conducted under the directions of Dr. Tarundeep Kaur, JCIT, TDS. The survey on M/s Kandhari Beveratges was lead by Sh. Prem Malik, Dy. Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS) and on Randhawa Hospital was lead by Sh. Ajay Kumar, ITO TDS Amritsar. Numerous discrepancies pertaining to huge amounts were found and the assesseees were immediately made to surrender and deposit the requisite tax due. Important papers pertaining to TDS provision are taken to custody and are under further scrutiny. Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Ludhiana Dr. Tarundeep Kaur told that the TDS wing is the leading tax collector of the region. In the data present with the department, it was seen that Amritsar region is lagging behind in the growth in TDS and thus to augment the collection and compliance to the TDS provisions, many other surveys will be conducted on different entities in days to come.
