Varsity organized two day hands on workshop on Obesity Control and Exercise

Amritsar, February 8 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Department of Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy of Guru Nanak Dev University organized a two day hands on workshop on Obesity Control and Exercise in the seminar hall of the Department. Obesity has become an epidemic in our society and must be controlled to avoid many dreaded diseases.

          Prof. N.S. Tung, Dean, Academic Affairs of the University inaugurated the workshop and discussed about the major complications of obesity in our society. On this occasion, Prof. Jitendra Sharma, Principal, DAV Institute of Physiotherapy discussed about the various methods being applied in his center for obesity control, applying physiotherapeutic modalities. Prof. Dr. Indu Talwar, Professor, Panjab University, Chandighar highlighted various methods for the assessment of obesity. Dr. Shyamal Koley, Head of the department discussed about the horrible aonsequences of obesity, both in children and adults and its management for every socio-economic strata of the society. Apart from these, Dr. Ajay Prasad Gautam, Dr. Archna Sharma, Dr. Manjula Uppal, Dr. Maman Paul, Ms. Raman Preet and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur discussed various aspects of assessment and management of abesity.
