Delhi, 11 February (Punjab Post Bureau)- Shiromani Akali Dal(Badal) nominee Manjinder Singh Sirsa is receiving unprecedented support from the Sikh congregation which has unnerved the rivals. S. Sirsa is way ahead of his rivals on social media. in organizing election meetings and even in door to door campaign and street to street in establishing close rapport with the Sikh voters. This has also heated up the campaign for the ensuing DSGMC polls slated later this month.
Criss-crossing various parts of the city, Sirsa addressed various meetings in Punjabi Bagh, GurdwaraPaschimVihar, North Avenue Road, Manohar Park, Madhusudan Park and Club Road and infused courage and confidence in the followers. A huge congregation at Gurdwara Sahib assured S. Sirsa that they have decided to support Sirsa on the basis of tremendous work done by DSGMC during his tenure. Addressing the congregation Mr.Sirsa said he is soliciting support of the Sikhs on the performance for the last four years. Earlier, during the tenure of Paramjit Singh Sarna, DSGMC remained a hot bed of corruption, nepotism and dirty politics which led to fratricidal war in the community. It was Sarna who started the tradition of celebrating two Sangrands and two martyrdom days to create confusion in the Sikh community. Sarna stopped Kirtan of “DasamGranth” and he went on to sell the properties of Guru Ghar. All these anti- Sikh activities were the hallmark of Sarna’s tenure.
On the contrary, we tried to revive the Sikh history and traditions during our last four years tenure. We have fulfilled all the promises that we had committed to at the time of last elections. We could successfully recover the building of Bala Sahib Hospital after making payment of 3.25 crore which had been sold by Sarna brothers. Also, we set up a memorial for the victims of 1984 Sikh massacre. We hiked the salaries’ of employees of education institutions and DSGMC. Besides, the DSGMC setup the statue Banda Singh Bahadur and started observing FatehDiwas at Red Fort. Also we ensured Rs 73 crore under the minority scheme for the education for the Sikh children and 50 percent reservation for the Sikhs in the minority educational institutions.S. Sirsa warned the anti- Sikh forces which are trying to mislead the credulous Sikhs by distorting and are keen to grab the control of the DSGMC.
