Amritsar, February 18 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Fourth Annual Athletics Meet was held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) to instill sportsman spirit amongst the students and to enhance their physical and social skills. The events marking the meet included a number of races such as 100mt, 200mt and 400mt, Long jump, Shotput and Tug of War for different categories. More than 400 students participated in the meet with full enthusiasm and zeal. Girl students of B. Tech. 1st year, mesmerized audience with their energetic performance of Punjabi folk dance Bhangra. In his address, the Director of the College, Dr. Amarpal Singh underscored the importance of sports activity for the overall personality development of the person.
Pawandeep Kaur (ECE-2nd Sem) was declared as best athlete amongst girls and Shubham (ME-4th Sem) was best athlete among boys. Tug of War was won by BSc. Agriculture amongst girls and students of Civil Engineering department amongst boys. Earlier a colorful march-past by the students of all the branches of the college was witnessed on the campus. The oath was taken by Sahibpreet Singh of CSE- Sem 6th and the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. Dr. Amarpal lauded the efforts of the students and faculty members of the college for making the event a huge success. Dr. Gursharan Singh, Dean, Agriculture, Khalsa University, Gurdial Singh, Principal, Khalsa College of Management and Technology graced the occasion. Others present on the occasion were Dr. Mohinder Sangita, Dr. Manju Bala, Dr. Harkaran Singh, Er. Sukhmeet Kaur, Er. Sahil Verma, Er. Jaspreet Singh, Er. RS Mahal and other faculty members. The winners of the various events were awarded with trophies, medals and certificates.
