Jalandhar, February 21 (Punjab Post Bureau)- US Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) slams the Folsom contracting company for its decision to fire those Oroville Dam workers for Posting Spillway Photos to Social Media. Expressing its concern executive director Satnam Singh Chahal said these workers only created awareness among the citizens and not violated any terms of their contract by posting the pictures.
Chahal said that if this was in their contact not to post any picture on social media then they should be told in advance not to capture any activities at the dam and share the footage via social media. There should be no social media/no photos” policy of the construction company at all of their construction sites. Why no one stopped these workers no to take a picture from the top of the spillway. He added. Number of Punjabi origin workers was not known who were fired by the company for Posting Spillway Photos to Social Media, Said Chahal.
OROVILLE- Five Oroville Dam workers were fired for posting spillway photographs to social media. A spokesperson for the California Department of Water Resources told KRON that a number of employees working under the Folsom contracting company Syblon Reid violated the terms of their contract by posting the pictures. A Syblon Reid contractor had forbidden a spillway team from capturing any activities at the dam and sharing the footage via social media. The contracting company has enforced this “no social media/no photos” policy at all of their construction sites. One worker was allegedly fired for sharing a picture taken from the top of the spillway.
