Amritsar, March 03 (Punjab Post Bureau) – National Science day 2017 was celebrated in the department of Microbiology of Guru Nanak Dev University. The occasion was sponsored by NCSTC, DST, GOI & PSCST, with a theme “Science & Technology for specially able Persons”. Dr. B.S. Chadha, Professor & Head The day was celebrated through models, charts, Audio/Video presentation and one act play. The topics covered included use of stem cells for overcoming Blindness, Diabetes, Cancer, Antibiotics Resistance, Phytoremediation, Biorefineries, Biofertilizers. Presentations highlighting the role of science in helping disabled persons like automated wheel chairs, advanced Blue tooth enabled walking sticks with sensors, 3D printing for organ transplant were also depicted. The science day was inaugurated by Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director Research and Prof. Avinash Nagpal, Dean Life Sciences. The students from different colleges and departments participated in NSD-2017.
