Workshop for Academic Administrators organized GNDU

Amritsar, March 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A Two day workshop for Academic Administrators was organized at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University. This Workshop is being conducted in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the University.  As many as 33 teachers including a few heads of the departments of the University participated. Prof. N.S Tung, Dean Academic Affairs, presided over the inaugural session. Prof. Tung in his inaugural address enlightened the audience about the utmost significance of such workshops for the incumbent as well as would-be Head of the Departments, which go a long way in acquainting them with the rules and regulations of the university administration. Tracing the history of the university administration, he briefed them how the decentralization of the powers has evolved over the years. Exhorting the audience to get them familiarized with the rules and regulations governing the university, he asked them to go through the university calendar, which he labeled as the Bible for the University. The various academic bodies of the university need to act in tandem with the administrative bodies in order to take the university to the newer heights, he added. Talking about the academic aspects, he stressed upon the periodical revision of curricula in consonance with the fast changing demands of the society. The regular upgradation of the knowledge by the teachers is a must in the present scenario, he emphasized. Concluding his inaugural address, he lauded the venture of the HRDC in unison with IQAC, and counseled to conduct such workshops in future as well. Prof. N.S. Sodhi Director, IQAC, and the coordinator of the workshop gave a brief account of the various aims and objectives of the IQAC.  Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu Director, HRDC expressed the hope that the participants would definitely get themselves enriched and would get an insight in the functioning of the IQAC, NAAC, NIRF and other monitoring bodies, which are actively engaged in the upliftment of the higher education in the country. Earlier, the chief guest was presented a floral welcome by the Prof. A.S. Sidhu and Prof. N.S Sodhi.
