National Seminar on Enriching Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Systems organized

PPN2703201723Amritsar, March 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University organized a UGC Sponsored National Seminar on the theme “Enriching Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Systems in the Age of Digitalization” with a purpose to discuss with academicians and practitioners about effective pedagogies with new developments in ICT and digitalization. Prof. Amit Kauts, Head of Department welcomed the distinguished guests and said that technology has changed the way content was delivered for effective learning by using Google Drive, Google classroom, You tube channels, MOOCs,ICT based Pedagogy, Vocational Pedagogy, Flipped Classrooms, Blended Learning and Web 2.0 technology tools in education.

The keynote address was delivered by Prof.  K. Ramachandran, Advisor, India-Africa Institute of Educational Planning and Administration to NUEPA who emphasized the use ofdigital technology to improve the students learning opportunities and outcomes. He discussed various pedagogical strategies integrated with ICT tools and various softwares available for effective teaching learning.Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Former Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad in his presidential remarks said that Technology has changed the whole scenario of Teaching and Learning processes. It has brought a dynamic change in Inclusive settings. Digitalization has transformed a teacher to a global teacher and learner too has become a global learner with various digital tools available around. Prof. N.S. Tung while addressing the gathering appreciated the Department for undertaking such initiatives and encouraging the teaching learning processes to be more technologically sound in the education sector.

During the plenary session, various eminent speakers from various universities of India like Prof. Anita Rastogi fromJamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhideliberated on the constructivist strategies and use of ICT based Teaching Learning and evaluation system in constructivist classroom settings. She also said that ICT initiatives by Government of India have even made things easier for teachers. So they should incorporate that in their teaching learning processes.Prof.Renu Nandafrom University of Jammu stressed on various issues related to digitization and its usage in educationfor Value development. Prof. Sangeeta, fromKurukshetra University talked of Assistive Technology and effective teaching learning for learners with diverse needs. Prof. Amarendra Behera through online session emphasized on Web 2.0 technology tools and their effectiveness in educational settings. Prof. ShakuntalaNagpal from NCERT, Prof. R.S. Yadav from KurukshetraUniversity, Prof. Kirandeep Kaur from Punjabi University, Retd.Prof. ArunaAnand and Prof. Parminder Kaur also presented their views in the technical sessions.

Nearly250 papers were presented in the Seminar by the practitioners from various universities and colleges of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal PradeshJ&K, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Chennai, Calcutta, New Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat etc. and reflected on various subthemes of the seminar. Besides this, the seminar was attended by a large number of Faculty and Researchers across the country to reflect and discuss on the idea.

Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director Research, GNDU, Amritsar in his Valedictory address congratulated the Department for the efforts for a successful seminar being held and stressed the importance of digitalization in the field of research and its implications.
