MP Aujla demands improvement in railway operations at Amritsar Railway Station

Amritsar, April 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Member Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla today conducted a meeting with the R. K. Kulshreshta General Manager of Northern Railways at Amritsar Railway station and discussed points related to station and improvement in railway operations. GM agreed upon demands and assured that he will take up the matter with concerned authorities. PPN1404201703

Gurjeet Aujla said that there are 5 rail platforms since independence which were used for  15 trains then, but now the number has risen  to 150 trains. He presented the proposal of 12 platforms of 100 cr for upgradation of Amritsar railway station and Rs. 50 cr. for Chehartta station up gradation. Aujla suggested converting Chehartta station in Cantt. Area and convert Manawala Station into goods transport hub. GM said that railways can acquire any land on its own at Manawala for which Aujla agreed to discuss this matter with state government.

            He demand a train from Asr to Katra (Vaishno Devi). He said that DMU/passenger trains are not allowed to enter Amritsar station and Passenger trains are also returned from Verka, Bhagtawala, Manawala stations. In rhis regard GM assured that all trains will come to Amritsar station once it is upgraded.

 He also said that BRTS over bridge needs attention of Railways, because State government’s job is over. He demanded the approval of Patti – Makhu rail link whose survey has been done from Amritsar to Ferozepore. Aujla said that medical facility at Railway Hospital is not sufficient for 6000 Railway employees in Amritsar and many private hospitals are waiting recognition.

            He also demanded upgradation of workshop and regular supply of raw material’ Auto union issue related with parking fees of Rs. 500 being charged by goons was discussed and GM took an instant notice. Aujla demanded the double of Amritsar to Pathankot line, Cashless Reservation counter in Railway Workshop, to establish Holiday Home for Railway stafand instal ATM in Amritsar station. Reservation counters in Ranjit Avenue and widening of passage in front of Railway Station was also demanded.

 He said that Small lines must be extended and connected with main lines, which includes Amritsar to Khemkarn, Quadian to Beas, Garhshanker to Jejon, Chd to Rajpura via Mohali, Phillaur to Rahon to Nawanshehr, Mukerian to Gurdaspur, MaurMandi to Talwandi Sabo etc. Increase of AC coaches in Amritsar to Chandigarh (12242/41) and Amritsar to Haridwar (14631/32) trains were also soughted. He pointed that there is no train from Amritsar to Southern India.

General Manager of Northern Railways R. K. Kulshreshta assured MP to look into the matter and take necessary action shortly.
