Amritsar, April 24 (Punjab Post Buerau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road conducted a special assembly on World Book and Copyright Day. By celebrating this day, UNESCO seeks to promote reading, publishing and the protection of copyright. The 23rd of April is also a symbolic date in remembrance of the deaths of William Shakespeare, Mignal de cervantes and William Wordsworth.
The students spoke about the importance of this day. It is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly reading. They highlighted the importance of reading that how it nurtures creativity, makes understanding better, kills boredoom and most importantly gives a meaning to life. They also sang songs and recited poems on the same theme.
Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar advised the students to develop a healthy habit of reading books as a man of reading is a man of culture. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school while addressing the students said that only a sincere reader knows what divine pleasure he gets from reading books. His attitude, ideas and imagination changes and he develops life skills as well.
