Amritsar, 21 June (Punjab Post Bureau) – A special Yoga session was organized in the morning at the Gymnasium Hall of the Guru Nanak
Dev University to mark the International Yoga Day under the supervision of Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director Youth Welfare of the University. Yoga instructor, Sh. Avan Prashar instructed about various aasna and pranayaam. A large number of teachers, officers, employees and students of the University were participated.
Prof. Subodh Kumar, Dean Academic Affairs was especially participated in this session. He said that Yoga is almost adopted by various countries, because people from various communites understand and realized its importance\ in healthy life. He said that we all should adopt Yoga in our daily life to get rid of various diseases. This would not only led to healthy society but also decrease the health budget to results increase in GDP of the Nation.
Earlier, Dr. Jagjit kaur welcomed the participants and said that yoga is part of our rich traditional heritage. She said that yoga could instill new energy, enthusiasm and positive thinking among us. Meanwhile Music Department of the University also celebrated the day under the guidance of Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head of the Department. She said that youth must adopt yoga for holistic development of their personalities. A fusion presentation with music, dance and aerobics was also presented by the students.
