Amritsar, July 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) -With the first rain of the monsoon in Punjab, deliveries of 100 fruit trees booked by individuals, communities and NGO’s was started with full steam.
In a collaborative effort with VOA (Voice of Amritsar), 40 plus trees were planted at Kashmir Garden. The local residents of the colony committed themselves to ensure the survival of the orchard created in the effort. Seenu Arora, the current chairman and many members of the VOA participated in the project
The present supply of saplings was raised with care by Shri PS Bhatty and included Moringa, Tamarind, Phalsa, Amla, Mulberry and jujubes.
Gunbir Singh President DilbirFoundation said that under hastagged #The5TreeProject only native fruit varieties shall be planted. He invited all citizens to adopt the project as their own, plant and nurture as many trees as possible in this two month season.
These are fruits of nature he said and all we are doing is assisting creation by replenishing what we have depleted without thought for the needy, humanity or the avian world.
