Amritsar, August 19 (Punjab Bureau Post) – In a major boost to the development activities in Amritsar, Punjab
government led by CM Captain Amarinder Singh today approved Rs.100 crores public projects for the `holy city’”. The decision was taken at the high level meeting held at Chandigarh in which Amritsar Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu, Lok Sabha MP Gurjit Singh Aujla and others participated and pushed ahead the agenda for the overall development of the city.
Rintu who had been spearheading a moment for the city’s development said in a statement issued here said that they had a fruitful meeting with CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar and the senior authorities of the state government following which the major projects were cleared. “We are happy that the city would see various development activities and people’s demands had been fulfilled”, said Rintu/
During CM’s last visit to Amritsar during Independence Day celebrations, Mayor Rintu had taken up various issues of the public during their interactions in presence of the city’s councillors. “Then and there CM Sahib had announced that they would release funds for the development of the city. The same has come true”, said Rintu.
The funds approved would be used for the construction and re-laying of the roads, repair of Guru Nanak Bhawan, upkeep of various public parks, developing green belts in the city, repair of Golden Gate, laying of sewerage, street lights, water supply, south-eastern project, development and coverage of the drainage along the bye-pass from Gumtala to Ram Tirath Road and many other projects including projects in South constituency.
Mayor thanked CM for the benevolent step by providing the huge push to the development activities in the city. “We are thankful to CM for the provision of funds. There will be huge development activities in the coming days in the holy city”, said Rintu.
