Science Day celebrated to mark the discovery of Raman Effect

Amritsar, Mar. 3 (Punab Post Bureau) – Department of Botany and Biotechnology of BBK DAV College for Women celebrated SCIENCE DAY to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir Chandra Shekhar Venkata Raman on 28^th February, 1928. National Science Day is being celebrated every year to widely spread a message about the significance of scientific applications in the daily life of people. It is celebrated to encourage the people as well as popularize the Science & Technology. This year college celebrated Science Day with theme “SCIENCE FOR NATION BUILDING”. Students of B.Sc (Medical) & B.Sc (Biotechnology) participated enthusiastically in the celebration. College has devoted whole week for the science day celebrations with various activities every day w.e.f 28^th February, 2015.

Inaugural speech was given by HOD, Dept of Botany, Mrs. Rashmi Kalia. Thereafter presentation on the topics; “Science and its use in daily life”, “A Bionic Eye” & “DNA Microarrays” was given by students of B.Sc. Biotechnology Sem-VI. Forthcoming Days will be devoted to hold exhibitions, Guest Lecture cum Workshop and poster presentation.
