Khalsa Institutions rejoice over Khushbir qualifying for Olympics

Amritsar, Apr. 21 (Dharmender Singh Rataul) –  The congratulations are pouring in from all sectors as Khalsa College for Women (KCW) student and renowned athlete Khushbir Kaur has qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics. She was practicing at Portugal, where she recorded her 20 kms Walk in One Hour 33 minutes and ensured entry into the Olympics. She will be the first Indian female athlete to compete in the Walk event in the world games.

            An Asian medalist and national champion Khushbir easily clocked the record 1:33:58, which is better than Rio 2016 qualification time of 1:35, even though she finished 13th in the race. Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and KCW Principal Dr.Sukhbir Kaur Mahal congratulated her for the honour. They said it was the mere hard work that Khushbir was putting which had resulted in positive results. The fellow students, coaches BS Dhillon, Rankirat Singh, College sports incharge Sukhdeep Kaur also congratulated her for the performance.
