Says the national project will usher new era of development

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina

Amritsar, June 19 (Dharmendra Singh Rataul) – Bhartitya Janata Party (BJP) state vice-president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today thanked Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for setting up of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the city. He said it is encouraging that the national institute of higher learning, has been finally allotted the land and admissions would start in for the next academic session.

Chhina stated that the project which is first of its kind in Punjab would usher a new era of development for the border district of Amritsar. He said this was the gift from Jaitley who understand the development challenges of this area. “Jaitley had proposed the project in the budget in parliament and we are thankful that finally the project is seeing the light of the day’’, said Chhina.

He had recently raised the matter regarding the `non-availability’ of land for the project and stated that any move to shift away the project elsewhere would not be liked by the people at large. “It is appreciable that finally CM Badal had arranged the land at a suitable place and IIM would be set up on the GT Road now’’, said he.

He reiterated that state government must develop Amritsar as a `education hub’ of the state by opening more colleges, schools and universities.
