BBK DAV College Lifts GNDU Inter-College Rowing Championship

Amritsar, September 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Rowing team of BBK DAV College for Women won GNDU Inter-college Rowing Championship held at Pong Dam Talwara by winning three gold medals and six silver medals. College team gave a splendid show by defeating Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar, S.D. College, Dinanagar and HMV College, Jalandhar. Ms. Kawaljit and Ms. Rajbir won two gold medals in Double Skull 1000 meter, Ms. Manpreet Kaur got one gold medal in Single Skull 1000 meter, Ms. Kirandeep Kaur bagged four silver medals in Rowing Four 1000 meter and Ms. Prabjot and Riya Saini got two silver medals in pair 1000 meter. Six players i.e. Manpreet, Rajbir, Shaveta, Riya Saini, Prabjot Kaur and Kirandeep have been selected for All India Intervarsity Camp for Rowing Championship which is going to be held at Chandigarh in the month of September, 2016. Other team members are Sukhraj and Simrandeep.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the young achievers and motivated them to maintain their performance in future as well. She added that the college players have always made a mark in various championships and as a result, BBK DAV is a forerunner in sports.  Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with other faculty members, felicitated the players on their achievements.
