Local Unit Dav College District Rally at Bhandari Bridge

Amritsar, Sept. 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A dharna cum rally was held at Bhandari Bridge by Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union Amritsar against the indifferent attitude of Punjab Govt. regarding the demand of aided college teachers. Prof. Gurdas Singh Sekhon Secretary Local unit of the college said that the Punjab Govt. is not serious to the demand of Aided college Teachers. He discussed the long pending demands of the Teacher community in which the following are the major demands of  teachers working in 170 affiliated (aided and unaided) colleges of Punjab. President Local Unit Prof. R. K Jha and Secretary Gurdas Singh addressed the rally and condemn the state Govt. for not fulfilling their demands, which includes.Regularization of Grants for the session 2016-17 salary grants were regular. However for the current session we have received grant only up to June, 2017. Grants for the months of July and August are pending which are creating salary crisis in the colleges. Inclusion of teachers working against un-aided posts under the umbrella of Punjab Affiliated Colleges Security of Service Act 1974, Relaxation in Refresher Courses as per UGC Guidelines, .Regular appointments instead of contractual, Implementation of Pension and Gratuity Scheme, HRA to Staff of Rural Colleges, Extension of Retirement Age, Unlawful extensions to Principals, Scrapping of Capping in API Score, Arrears of Career Advancement Scheme for DPE’s and Librarians etc.

District president Dr. Malkiat Singh also addressing the rally said that there will be Dharna  on 4/10/2017 at the residence of Education Minister at Dina Nagar in which teachers from all colleges of Amritsar Gurdaspur Batala and Phathankot will participate. The whole staff has attended the rally in which Prof.GS Sidhu, Prof. Munish Gupta , Prof. Vikas Bhardwaj, Prof. Madan Mohan , Prof. Rupinder Kaur, Prof. Neeru Gupta, Prof. Lovleen Kaur were presnt in rally.
