Amritsar, Jan 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – As per the call given by PCCTU, the local unit of DAV College stayed two
hours Dharna cum Rally in the college campus in front of Principal’s office against the indifferent and anti-higher education attitude of the state govt. in Punjab. Dr. Gurdas Singh Sekhon, Secretary Local unit PCCTU briefed the members regarding long pending demands of the Non-Govt. aided college in Punjab. He said that nearly 70 to 80 % students are getting higher education in these colleges but the behaviour of the state govt. regarding teachers working in these colleges in indifferent. He said due to irregular policy of the state govt. for the release of govt. grant to these colleges created economic and social problems because most of the colleges are not able to pay the salary to the teachers for the last six months. Dr. Malkiat Singh Distt. President expressed the anguish over the non-cooperative attitude of the Punjab govt. regarding demands of the non govt. aided colleges.
Dr. BB Yadav State executive Committee member also discussed the problems of college teachers working in Guru Nanak Dev University affiliated colleges. He said that GNDU is totally failed to organize the semester system examination from the last few years because they are unable to provide winter and summer break to the teachers. He said in the last semester held in November 2017 winter break was scheduled from 18th December to 4th January 2018 but examination continued till 11th January 2018 which was totally shameful for the GNDU authority for not provided even a single winter holiday for the college teachers.
Dr. Sekhon again warned the GNDU authority to talk with PCCTU leadership to discuss all these issues on the table otherwise all the teachers working in GNDU affiliated college will observe strike on 2nd Feburary 2018 against the GNDU authority and the whole responsibility will on the university administration.
Dr. Darshandeep, Dr. Munish Gupta, Dr. Vikas Bhardwas, Dr. Parveen Kumari, Prof. GS Sidhu, Prof. Rupinder Sidhu, Prof. Madan Mohan and Prof. Kiran were present along with the whole staff of DAV College Amritsar.
