MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari

Amritsar, Oct. 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Member Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari in order to coordinate with the execution of CSS (Centrally Sponsored Schemes). He was joined by BSF, LAPI, CWC, Customs officials during the inspection of various places/systems. Briefing about the visit Aujla informed that the biggest cause of concern is the delay in the installation of truck scanner. He said that the deliberate delays in the construction and installation of the scanning system are raising concerns that there might be some agency or some anti national group trying to sabotage the project compromising the safety and security of our country. He said that the duty to create and maintain the infrastructure of ICP rests with LPAI (Land Port Authority of India) which is not satisfactorily performing its duty. LPAI and the contracting firm are solely responsible in the delay in the installation of the scanner. He further said that during the inspection a single mason and a few helpers we found working on the scanner building and multiple flaws were present in the structure which are visible to the naked eye which shows that neither LPAI nor the contractor are paying any heed towards the quality and pace of the work. 

Aujla met the porter union and listened to their issues which he later on discussed with the CWC, Customs and contractors to find out amiable solutions within the limits of the law. He said that all the valid and legal demands of the porters shall be met with but no law shall be broken. He also instructed the labour contractors and CWC officials to find a hassle free method of transferring the earrings of the porter to them.

Aujla took a serious notice of the pantry preparing food for the porters and Pakistani drivers. He also met the Pakistani truck drivers and listened to their issues. He immediately instructed the concerned officials to provide fresh food, tea and water to the porters and the drivers. 

Poters and drivers also informed that the situation of the toilets is worst than ever. Most of the toilets are kept locked by LPAI officials either for their personal use or for reducing their labour to maintain. Similar case has been reported by BSF personnel also. Aujla instructed the concerned officials to immediately provide the basic necessities to BSF personnel, visitors, porters and drivers. He said that these minor factors tarnish the image of our nation which he shall not be ignoring. 

He said that he shall be preparing a complete report on this and shall personally be submitting it to PM, HM, FM, MEA and other Ministries related to this issue. He said that he shall be adding LPAI and allied agencies in the agenda of DISHA committee and keep a close eye on its working as monitoring the CSS fall within the domain of DISHA.
