Khalsa Hockey Academy reaches in the final of Nehru Cup

Khalsa College, AmritsarAmritsar, Oct. 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The city based Khalsa Hockey Academy today beat Mizoram 2-0 in the semi-final of the prestigious Hockey Nehru Cup being played at Delhi and reached final. The girls played a highly competitive match and Mizo girls failed to convert even the penalty and corners into the goal due to the alert goalkeeper Simran of the Khalsas. Academy coach Amarjit Singh said they are expecting very interesting final tomorrow. He said Simranjit, the centre-forward played well and scored the goals.

Khalsa College Governing Council Honorary Secretary RMS Chhina, Academy Sports Director Dr. Kanwaljit Singh congratulated the team and appreciated the efforts of Chief Coach Baldev Singh for the is constant supervision and hard work which has led the team to this achievement.. He said that the management was committed to promote the sports culture and create an outstanding infrastructure for sports persons. The Academy being run by the Council is training the international level players in the grounds of historic Khalsa College complex. Dr. Kanwaljeet congratulated the girl athletes on their win and said they were all geared up for the final, which is scheduled tomorrow.
