Blood donation camp organised to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary at Red Cross Bhawan

Amritsar, Nov 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – India has an annual requirement of 10 million units of blood PUNJ0811201913while the availability is only 8 million units, Government, Non Government Organizations and corporate sector have been striving hard to create awareness about blood donation to bridge the gap between demand and supply .

           Shivdular Singh Dillon Deputy Commissioner-cum-President Indian Red Cross Society  has initiated to create mass awareness campaign  through Red Cross Branch Amritsar so that sufficient availability of blood be made for the suffering humanity. More and more blood donation camps be organized to meet the shortage of blood.

             To commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Jagat Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a blood donation camp is organised at Red Cross Bhawan. Himanshu Aggarwal Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) inaugurated the camp. He pinned up the badges to the Donors. He also encouraged the donors and requested them to keep the same spirit in future also. He mentioned that we have two Government Blood Banks at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and Civil Hospital, Amritsar. Both the blood banks have daily consumption about 150 units.

            Today 7th November 2019 about 50 donors donated their blood. In future, Blood Donation Campaign in the District Amritsar will be continued to meet the shortage of blood.
