Capt Govt solely responsible for deaths due to illicit liquor – Baljinder Kaur, Budhram

AAP leaders visits aggrieved families, demand compensation of Rs 20 lakh each, Govt job

Tarn Taran, August 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Core Committee Chairman and MLA Principal Budhram and chief spokesperson and MLA Prof. Baljinder Kaur offered condolences to the families of dozens of victims of spurious liquor, holding the powerful liquor mafia run under the protective patronage of the ruling Congress government in the state solely responsible for the tragedy.

Principal Budh Ram and Prof. Baljinder Kaur jointly addressed the media here on Saturday after offering condolences to the bereaved families of the villages, including Naurangabad, Jodhpur, Pandori Kalan, Kler, Kandiala and different wards in Tarn Taran.

Expressing deep shock over the tragedy, Prof Baljinder Kaur and Principal Budh Ram alleged that when leaders of the ruling party forgot their moral responsibility towards the people and ‘outsource’ police stations and courts, how could such tragedies be averted?

The AAP leader said that earlier the so-called ‘Jathedars’ police stations, Patwar Khanas and court on contract, during the Badals’ regime allegedly used to collect ‘monthly’, which is now being perpetuated by the Congress government. She said that due to terror of the government and mafia goons, the people refrained from speaking his/ her heart out, but even a common of the commonest people of the state knew who were the actual culprits behind such horrific misadventures ending up in death and destruction on a large scale, alleging Chief Minister’s Office’s hand in the recurring incidents in the state.

Principal Budh Ram said that simply by putting the SHO concerned under suspension and ordering a magisterial inquiry was not sufficient enough to bring the whole truth to the fore. The government should immediately order a high-level and time-barred judicial probe into the matter under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court so that all the big and small fish in the police and political spectrum involved in the liquor mafia could be exposed in the public.

The AAP leaders demanded that murder cases be registered against those responsible for tragic deaths and a compensation of Rs. 20 lakh, besides a government to eligible members of the families, each.
