DBT Sponsored workshop  ‘’Vermiculture and Vermicomposting’’

Amritsar, Feb. 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  The Department of Zoology of the college organized a DBT Sponsored workshop on Vermiculture and Vermicomposting. Dr. Arvinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Zoology, GNDU, was the resource person for this workshop. The workshop was preceded by a lecture on techniques in Vermicomposting.The students were taken to Vermicomposting unit of GNDU where they learnt various methods of making Vermiculture beds (pit and wind rows) and enrichment of vermicompost with nitrogen and some micro-nutrients. They were shown the cocoons and hatchlings of Eisenia foetida. They were also apprised with the agricultural importance of Vermicomposting. The students of B.Sc Medical Sem II and the faculty members of Department of Zoology attended the workshop.
