Boxer turned Bollywood play back singer visits alma-mater, vows to fight for sports’ cause

Amritsar, Apr. 8 (Dharmender Singh Rataul) – A promising boxer who was champion in the university and state level championships, Aarish Singh who has switched over to singing and is all set to become Bollywood play back singer, today visited his alma mater; Khalsa College Senior Secondary School. He said though he has become a singer and would be shortly releasing his track `Party Band Karo’ to public. Aaarish who was welcomed at the school campus by Principal Dr.Nirmal Singh Bhangu, met his fellow players and coach Baljinder Singh. He said though he has turned into singer, his primary love still remains the boxing and wan he wanted to work for the upliftment of the game in the state. “We need to support the game to train national level boxers’’, said he.

He said he used to practice daily at the School’s boxing rink and in free time used to sing. “During various school programs and boxing practice sessions I used to sing. On the suggestion of one of my teachers and father Paramjit Singh Pannu, who is in the real estate business, I tried my luck in films and I am singing with popular singer Neil Nitin Mukesh in the two tracks in film `Ishqeria’, being released shortly.

Singh who was born in the village Naushehra Pannuan in Tarn Taran is a story of village boy making big in the Bollywood. “My ideal is Parveen Kumar whose role as Bheem in the all time popular serial `Mahabharta’ is legendry. He belongs to my neighbouring village of Sarhali and like me belongs to moderate family’’, said he. He added that he was thankful to the alma mater for providing him the platform to perform at various levels which gave him the exposure and now he was slowly becoming a name in Hindi movies and plans his own albums in the times to come. He said Punjabi music lovers were all over the country and even abroad and he wanted to experiment with the folk music in the years to come.
