DAV College Observed National Unity Day

Amritsar, Oct. 31 (Punjab Post Bureau) – PG Department of Computer Science observed National Unity Day and paid tribute to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his 140^TH Birth Anniversary in DAV College, Amritsar. More than 250 students participated in this event. This event was organized under the supervision of Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Amardeep Gupta, Head Department of Computer Science. Students of BMM presented a video documentary highlighting the great achievements of prominent leader Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel. He was one of the great social leaders of India. He played a crucial role during the freedom struggle of India and was instrumental in the integration of over 500 princely states into the Indian Union.

               Various competitions like Essay writing, Logo Making and debate based on the theme of “Smart India, secure India” was organized online on official website of Government www.mygovt.in. Students of BMM and MSc participated zealously in Debate competition and presentations were also presented by students based on topics like Smart Grid, Smart Transportation and Smart City. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar motivated the efforts of Computer Department and said that Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was a great political and social leader of India who played a major role in the country’s struggle for independence and subsequently guided its integration into a united, independent nation. He was called the “Iron Man of India” for his fearless approach towards National Integration. Pledge was also undertaken by students under the guidance of him.  Prof Vikram Sharma, Prof Kapil Goel, Prof Sandeep Sharma, Prof. Neha Jain, Prof kawaljeet kaur, Prof. Ritu arora was also present on the occasion.
