Amritsar, Nov. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau)- “International interface and linkages,not only enhance student’s education qualification, it also gives an edge in the competitive Global job market,” keeping this in view,Global Institutes Amritsar’s (GIA)Vice Chairman Dr Akashdeep Singh during his recent visit to USA, heldindepth discussions with two American Universities i.e. – Arkansas State University USA (ASU) and University of North AlabamaUSA (UNA),followingGIA’s MoU signed with both these universities. Speaking to the media, on his return from USA, Dr Akashdeep, accompanied by Dr. NavjotKaur, Dean – International Affairs,explained that GIA was able to clinch vital benefits for local students. In discussions with Dr. Paul Mixon, Dean Engineering, Dr. Jim Washam, Dean Business Administration and Ms. Dodie Peterson, Arkansas State University USAoffered to develop transferable skills among GIA students to pro-actively build a pipeline of young talent,expected toachieve professional successas business leaders and entrepreneurs. GIA was able to seal a vital commitment with ASU,on exchange of Students & Faculty. Students of GIA would thus be facilitated with six-months of Internship after B-Tech courses in all spheres. Further, after completion of Internship at ASU,eligible students could qualify for one- year Master’s Degree from Arkansas State University. Interestingly, students of Global Institutes Amritsar, under this agreement could pursue one-year MBA at ASU at‘domestic fees’ and would not have to pay fee charged to International students. The International Fee for the course is approximately 6000 USDollars, while domesticfee for citizens of US is 2600 US Dollars. Which would mean, students of local GIA would be paying less than half the fee charged to international students.
Earlier the GIA Vice Chairman was welcomed by ASU’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Lynita M Cooksey and was informed that Officials of ASU-Arkansas State University would visit Global Institutes Amritsar on February 15, 2016. In another interactive session, the University of North Alabama –USA, (UNA)agreed to ‘credit transfers’ for students of GIA after completion of two-year course in Hotel Management, Airlines & Tourism courses. These students could pursue BSc Culinary Arts, Food Nutrition & Hospitality management at UNA for the following two- years.
Regarding his interaction with Dr Gregory A Carnes, Dean Business Management, Dr Chunsheng Zhang UNA, Dr. Akashdeep informed –“In addition to this, GIA students of MBA could do their second year at UNA after completion of first year and be provided degrees from the US University. Also GIA students aftercompletion of their B.Techwould be eligible for ‘Master of Professional Studie’ program at UNA. The GIA Vice Chairman also got an opportunity to interact and get first hand feedback about the university from Indian students studying there; he was presented a memento by Dr. Ken Kitts, President of University of North Alabama.
