Ram Prasad Bismal Remembered with Reverence by DAV Students

Amritsar, Dec. 19 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar prepared a special programme to pay rich tribute to the great freedom fighter , Ram Prasad Bismal. The students sang patriotic songs and raised slogans to serve the nation under all circumstances. They presented a role – play highlighting the important incidents from the life of Ram Prasad Bismal. The agitation and the urge to free the country from the shackles of the British rule, among the youth such as Ram Prasad Bismal, Bhagat Singh and others was very sensitively touched by the students. The slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ , ‘Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna’ and ‘Jai Hind’ created an atmosphere of patriotism and nationalism and the students saluted the great leader by pledging to work for the bright future of the country. Ram Prasad Bismal dedicated himself to the cause of the country. He was born in 1897 at Shahajahanpur , UP .He was a very talented writer and many of his poems have intense patriotic feelings. Through his poetry, he was able to inspire many youths to join the freedom struggle. The students recited a few of his poems arousing patriotic feeling among the audience. Ram Prasad Bismal was inspired by Arya Samaj and became its ardent follower. It was on 9th August 1925 , when he , along with his fellow freedom fighters, looted the money of the British government from the train while it was passing through Kakori, Lucknow. After this , he was arrested and given capital punishment. Mr.Manvinder Singh, from S.St faculty of the school, addressed the students on this occasion and advised them to imbibe the ideals followed by the freedom fighters like Ram Prasad Bismal, who sacrificed self for the sake of the nation. He asked them to rise above the petty issues and join hands to build brotherhood and harmony in the country.

Mrs.Reman Sharma, Supervisor Std IX & X informed the students about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and how they tolerated the brutalities of the Britishers for the sake of the country. She asked the students to take inspiration from the poems and books written by Ram Prasad Bismal, who was a man of principles. She asked them to take up a cause  and stand for it , for that would be a true salute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

Regional Director, Amritsar Zone , Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road  and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar , Principal DAV College , Hathi Gate sent their best wishes on this occasion. They asked the students to respect the independence they are enjoying and that they should work to maintain peace and harmony in the society.

Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school, while addressing the students said that students must take inspiration from the life of the freedom fighters who fought selflessly for the sake of the country. She added that it was now the duty of the young generation to safeguard this independence from any kind of external and internal slavery.
