Punjab SC Commission Seeks Action Taken Report in Narli village Incident in 60 Hours

Chairman meets victims of atrocities at Guru Nanak Hospital

Amritsar, Jan 4 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes today took serious note of village Narli incident, where a daughter and her father were brutally assaulted by some landlords and sought Action Taken Report from Tarn Taran Administration in 60 hours.

        Chairman of Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha accompanied by Tarn Taran SSP Mr. Manmohan Kumar Sharma visited Guru Nanak Hospital and met the under treatment of Rasal Singh and her daughter Paramjit Kaur and issued directions to SSP on the spot to include Prevention of Atrocities Act in the FIR. He also directed Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran to ensure the free of cost treatment of both injured besides immediately releasing the compensation as per law under the Act.

        After enquiring about the well being of Rasal Singh and her daughter Mr. Bagha, while interacting with media persons said that it was very unfortunate that the number of such cases were increasing by day. Answering a query Mr. Bagha said that Commission was contemplating to arrange a joint meeting with Principal Secretary Home, Director General of Police to formulate a strategy to prevent such incidents in the state. He said that the Commission will take the final decision in this regard soon so that an effective model could be brought to fore.

        Referring to another query Mr. Bagha said that SSP has been directed to ensure the arrests of people named in FIR as early as possible. He said that Commission will take every possible measure to secure justice for the victims. Meanwhile, SSP Mr. Sharma, who was also present on the spot, informed that the raids were being conducted to nab the persons named in the FIR and the addition of SC Act is also being made.

        Prominent amongst those present on the occasion include SDM Patti Mr. Bakhtawar Singh, Balwinder Gill, Vice President SC Morcha Punjab, Kewal Kumar, Retd. SP, Vice President BJP Punjab, Santokh Singh Gumtala, Gurpreet Singh Goldy and Satpal Dogra.
