
Jammu, May 23 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The final match of the Jagruk Hindustani Premier Volley Ball League (JHPVL) was held on recently at Samba with Jammu Kings emerging as champions after a month long grueling Championship. A total of 64 teams had participated in the competition from the districts of Samba, Jammu and Kathua, However, after a tough challenge throughout the month, it all boiled down to the best two teams , BD Bari Jaguars and Jammu Kings who locked horns in the final in final in front of near capacity crowd at Samba Military Stadium. In the fiercely contested final match Jammu Kings beat BD Bari Jaguars. Arun Singh playing for Jammu Kings turned out to be the player of the series. The winning team apart from lifting a gold plated trophy bagged cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- whereas the runners up team was awarded a Silver Plated trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-
Shri Kavinder Gupta Hon’ble Speaker, J&K Assembly was the Chief Guest of the event and the Guest of honour were Hon’ble Shri Shyam Chaudhary, PHE & Irrigation Minister J&K and Shri Farooq Khan, National Secretary of BJP who witnessed the event. Shri Daljeet Chib , Vice Chairman Kisan Board J&K along with Hon’ble Dr. MK Manyal, MLA Samba and Hon’ble Shri Kuldeep Kumar MLA Hiranagar also attended the event. Lieutenant General KJ Singh, Army Commander, Western Command and Lieutenant General Ashok Ambre, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps were also present for the final match. Addressing a large gathering, the Army Commander complimented both the teams for putting up a spirited performance in the final match. He urged the players to continue to excel in the game. He also complimented the people of Samba for having countered the menace of terrorism for so many years and acknowledged their contribution toward National Security. He also urged the people residing in the Border Areas to be Jagruk Hindustani and cooperate with the security forces in all spheres.
