GNDU Boys Hostel inaugurated (Digital-Launch) by Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani

Amritsar June 3 (Pujab Post Bureau) – A newly constructed boys hostel  in the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus was inaugurated (Digital-launch) by Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India from Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. Prof. A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor, senior faculty and students of the University were the part of this first such initiative held at the National level. This hostel has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore under RUSA (Rashtriya Uch Sikhsha Abhian) scheme of the GOI.  Honorable Minister Smt Smriti Irani simultaneously launched 10 such initiatives across the country, that are supported by the RUSA scheme

          While addressing on this occasion, Union Minister said that Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, was launched in 2013, and aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions. The funding to the states is made on the basis of critical appraisal of State Higher Education Plans, that describes the strategy to address issues of equity, access and excellence in higher education.The Minister congratulated the institutes where inauguration of Model Degree Colleges, Foundation Stone Laying of New Model Degree Colleges, Inauguration of Labs, Libraries, Digital Classrooms and Digital e-Content and Learning Modules, Languages Labs, Online Admissions and State RUSA Portals and Release of Gender Sensitization Course and hostel building was held this morning.Surjit Singh Rakhra, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister, Govt. of Punjab, Chandigarh extended his address from Chandigarh. Prof. NS Tung, Dean Academic Affairs interacted with the MInister on behalf of the University and gave the details of the achievements and activities of the University. Hon’ble Union Minister replied to the questions asked by the University students on this occasion.

Registrar, Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon; Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director Research; Prof. Anish Dua, Professor Incharge PR, Prof AS Sidhu, Director HRDC  along with other officials and students of the University were present on this occasion.
