Amritsar, Sept. 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Revenge! Hate! These were the words that laid the foundations of Chandragupt Maurya and Nandni’s union. STAR Plus along with Ekta Kapoor will bring to the audience a unique royal story from the chapters Indian history, the story of Chandragupt Maurya and Nandni. Titled Chandra-Nandni the show boasts of a love story written by hatred. Actor Rajat Tokas of ancient who is playing Chandragupt Maurya visited Amritsar to talk about this upcoming show Chandra-Nandni.
Rajat Tokas aka Chandragupt Maurya said “I am really looking forward to portraying the mighty king, Chandragupt Maurya. His and Nandni’s story is very different from what we’ve seen on TV so far. Theirs is a love story written by hatred. I am really looking forward to the experience.”
He said, “The magnum opus will capture the royal couple, Chandragupta Maurya and Nandni’s journey which began on the note of hatred and revenge. This period drama will see Rajat Tokas play the role of Chandragupta Maurya while Shweta Basu Prasad will be seen playing the role of Nandni. The actress will be seen making a comeback on STAR Plus with this role.” He said, “The world is aware of Chandragupt’s name being mentioned for uniting the Indian sub-continent into one state, not many know the other side of his story. For the first time ever, through Chandra-Nandni the world will get to witness the story of his marriage to Princess Nandni.”
Keeping the grand stature of the show in mind, the makers have conducted in-depth study to maintain the authenticity on the show. Every minute detail has been largely monitored. Right from the set of the show, to the costume the jewellery, the language, the diction and rituals everything has been finalized and conceptualized after a great amount of hard work and high-end extensive research of the Mauryan era. The show will certainly depict a royal ensemble on the television screen along with the strong and unmatched chemistry of Chandragupta and Nandni.

The character of Nandni is that of an extremely strong princess who is multi-faceted. The story will chronicle the love-story of this mighty ruler Chandragupt Maurya and his princess, Nandni whose destiny is written hatred. This epic tale boasts of talent like Arpith Ranka as Raja Padmanand, Papia Sengupta as Moora, Mansi Sharma as Queen Avantika and Marathi actor Manoj Murlidhar Kolhatkar as Chanakya.
