DAV Public School observes Mahatma Anand Swami Birth Anniversary & World Food Day

Amritsar, October 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, conducted a special assembly on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Anand Swami ji and World Food Day. The students paid a tribute to a renowned Arya Samaji Mahatma Anand Swami ji who was a strong pillar of Arya Samaj and DAV movement. He was a social reformist and an instrument of social change. He also fought for the freedom of our country. Students and the teachers of the school paid obeisance to this great soul. They narrated the incidents from his life and the contribution he made for the noble cause of society. Mahatma Anand Swami Ji started the newspaper Daily Milap which is still functioning and carries with it many values as the name suggests, it is spreading message of harmony, love and brotherhood among the mankind.

The school also observed the World Food Day. It is a day of action against hunger. Students of the school highlighted different issues for discussion for the global misery of hunger and poverty. They pledged that each and every individual should be committed to eradicate hunger from the society. They raised the slogan that ‘A well fed nation is a happy nation.’

Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of the students for observing such days. They advised the students to follow the path of great social reformer Mahatma Anand Swami ji and also work for the welfare of the society. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school also paid tribute to Mahatma Anand Swami Ji and emphasised that such souls leave behind an indelible impression on humanity. She  also stressed that right to food is a basic human right.
