Amritsar opens arms to Pure Food Marketplace

Amritsar, October 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Organic Sundays by Dilbir Foundation was welcomed with open arms by the citizens of Amritsar.The campaign largely led by social media ensured that delighted customers started streaming in before.10am, and continued arriving till 4.30pm. The stocks however, were largely picked up by enthusiastic Citizens by 2 Pm itself showing the keenness of people at large to buy pure food and products. Others were requested to come again on Saturday, 29October, from 10am to 2pm at same venue at Shazada Nand College.

The first of its kind marketplace was inaugurated by  Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Add. Chief Secretary, Punjab and consisted of farmers & natural product makers from across Punjab, including Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Abohar, Majitha, TarnTaran etc. Although Punjab vegetable supplies arrive Usually around November, the exhibits & supplies provided were enough excitement for all.  Apart from pesticide-free vegetables,  grains, pulses & fruit, Gur & jaggery, unadulterated milk & milk products,

Cold-pressed oils, sugar free Stevia & millets, pure Himalayan honey by ThrivEarth, chemical free spices and condiments were displayed. A separate Earth Store set up for the purpose had mosquito repellants, remedies for cockroaches & ants, Germ free potions for mobile handphones, laptops and computers as well as health products made from Chemical free natural oils, totally safe for skin and inhalation & were a craze among visitors.

 EcoAmritsar ran the entire operations and execution of the program and put up an information stall as well. Rajbir Singh Of Bhagat Puran Singh Natural Farm gave information on natural cultivation on its stall, while Soil Master agri-implements Manufacture gave a demonstration on agricultural practices including working of rotavator & disk plough capable of Curbing the menace of straw burning in Punjab.

Youth Teams from Khalsa College Of Management & Technology, as well as from Shahzada Nand College of the Holy city volunteered in large numbers to ensure the success of the program. School children from Millennium School Participated fully in the stalls & assistance of visitors in particular. Children were excited playing with young calves and games arranged by the youth.

Gunbir Singh President Dilbir Foundation thanked the citizens of Amritsar as well as the participating NGO’s & institutions. He said that the farming community has gone back encouraged with the response, and promised to bring more supplies of fresh vegetables on Saturday. The feedback from the residents of Amritsar city has urged us to make this event a weekly platform For farmers, producers and the consuming public.
