
Amritsar, October 24 ( Punjab Post Bureau) – Zonal Youth Festival of ‘C’ Zone was inaugurated here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 20 teams of students-artists from Jalandhar district are participating in 34 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on October 27.
Sh. Jatinder Brar, Founder, Punjab Naat Shala, Amritsar formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Head, Physical Education Department was the guest of honour. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of Youth Welfare Department.
Sh. Brar said that youth festivals are integral part of student life. They not only provide plateform to showcase the hidden talent of students but also help in over all personality development. He said that because of these festivals, many national and international artists born. Dr. Jagjit Kaur also honoured Chief Guest and guest of honour with mementos. Today, the festival was started with the item of Bhangra followed by Mimicry, Mime, One Act Play, Group Shabad/Bhajan, Group Song (Indian), Kavishri, Vaar Singing, Painting, Cartooning, Poster and Photography, Collage, Clay Modelling and Installation.
On October 25 the competitions of Costume Exhibition, One Act Play, Classical Instrument (Purcussion), Classical Instruments (Non-Percussion), Geet/Gazal, Debate, Rangoli and Phulkari will be organized. On October 26 the competions of Gidha, Classical Dance, Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song, Elocution, Poetical Symposium and Quiz (Prilimnary) will be held. On the last day i.e. October 27, the competitions of Folk Instruments and Group Dance followed by prize distribution function will be organised.
