Golden Jubilee of Punjabi Suba, SGHP School G. T. Road and Foundation Day of Chief Khalsa Diwan celebrated

Amritsar, November 1 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Punjabi Suba, the Golden Jubilee year of G. T. Road school and the 114th foundation day of Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society, a grand cultural fest was organized in the school. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Finance Minister Sh. Arun Jaitley. Chief Minister of Punjab S. Parkash Singh Badal presided over the function. The guests of honour on the occasion were Mr. Shwait Mallik M.P. Rajya Sabha and Cabinet Minister Sh. Anil Joshi, Mayor Sh. Bakhshi Ram Arora, S. Manjit Singh G.K. Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Delhi, S. Jaspal Singh Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala, S. Tarlochan Singh Former Chairman National Commission for Minorities. A warm floral welcome was given to the guests by S. Charanjit Singh Chadha, President CKDCS, S. Dhanraj Singh and S. Inderpreet Singh Chadha Vice President, S. Nirmal Singh Resident President and S. Narinder Singh Khurana Honorary Secretary, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon Hony. Scey. Educational Committee, S. Harjit Singh Chadha, Jt. Hony. Secy Er. Jaspal Singh, S. Navpreet Singh, Addl. Secretary S. Harminder Singh, S. Jaswinder Singh Advocate, S. Charanjit Singh and S. Harjit Singh TarnTaran, On this historic S. Charanjit Singh Chadha in his welcome note threw light on the History and achievements of Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society and about the upcoming  66th World Sikh Educational Conference 2016 to be held at G. T. Road. School.

A vibrant extravaganza was showcased on the occasion giving a kick start with a welcome dance followed by the foot tapping Gidda, Sufi Qawali mesmerised the audience in aura sufism. A punjabi play ‘Rangla Punjab’ which was a motivational force to make the present generation stay connected with the rich culture and heritage of Punjab was appreciated by all. Everybody enjoyed the conglomeration of programme. Mr. Arun Jaitley in his short speech expressed his best wishes to the school management, Principal, teachers, students and all those associated with this historic event. He said that everytime he visits Punjab it presents a totally changed outlook. He appreciated the efforts made by the Punjab Government to give a facelift to the Holy City of Amritsar especially around the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh and the constant efforts to make Amritsar a smart city.

S. Parkash Singh Badal congratulated the Chief Khalsa Diwan management on the 114th Foundation Day of Chief Khalsa Diwan and the Golden Jubilee of Punjabi Suba. He emphasized on Punjabi role in the country’s progress and prosperity whether it is the field of agriculture, education, security, industry and urbanization. He said that although a lot changes can be witnessed in the school since he visited earlier, but one thing remains constant, rather unchanged that is ‘its spirit’. He further said that the name of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School G. T. Road has emerged as a trendsetter in the city. Mr. Shwait Malik and Mr. Anil Joshi also expressed their heartiest felicitation. The guests were honoured with shawl and momentos. A folder highlighting the achievements made during the last 50 years was also released on this occasion. The program culminated with the vote of thanks by S. Inderpreet Singh Chadha. The entire programe was a great success and everyone remained   lemused till the end. The stage was conducted by Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon and Mrs. Nischint Kahlon.
