
Amritsar, Dec 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road conducted a special assembly on WORLD AIDS Day to create awareness about the disease. The students explained how the killer virus plays havoc with the immune system and takes the patients to the threshold of death. They also urged that patients suffering from the disease must not be victimised and discriminated against in the society. They explained how this disease spreads and what preventive measures should be taken. They also recited poems and enacted a short role play on the same topic. The red ribbon was worn by all the students, teaching and non – teaching staff which is a symbol of solidarity and a commitment to the fight against HIV. Regional Director Punjab Zone –A Dr. Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school , Dr. Rajesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of the school and felt that the future generation has the ability to sensitize others and prevent spread of HIV. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school urged the students to follow a healthy way of life by preventing themselves from such dreadful diseases. She further told the students to shed inhibition and come forward to spread the message in their surroundings.
