Amritsar, February 21 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Under the benign blessings of Padam Shri Dr. Punam Suri President DAV CMC, New Delhi and the skilful guidance and supervision of Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Princpal DAV College Amritsar and students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road paid tribute to the founder of Arya Samaj, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati on his birth anniversary. He was one of the most radical socio –religious reformer in the Indian history. A special morning assembly was arranged on this occasion. The students read out excerpts from his inspiring and enlightening life . Many poems narrating his awe – inspiring life were recited by the students.
They presented a small role – play highlighting Swami Ji’s efforts to spread awareness among one and all including the priests and sadhus who because of their illogical and irrational thinking were directing people into superstitions. This great scholar, philosopher and visionary opposed child marriage, caste distinction, untouchability, idol worship and animal sacrifice. His message to all was ‘Back to Vedas’ . He published many religious books including ‘Sathyaprakash’ which means light to truth. The students while paying reverence to Swami ji took a pledge to follow the path shown by Swami Dayanand Saraswati who advocated enlightened citizens free from the shackles of ignorance and superstitions.
The Principal of the school, Dr. Neera Sharma gave her blessings to the students and said that there was so much to learn from the life of this great scholar, reformer and philosopher. She urged the students to imbibe the values of honesty, truthfulness, sacrifice and scientific reasoning for the service of humanity.
