Scientific Deliberations by Noted Scientists at GNDU

Amritsar, February 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A two day National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Plant and Environmental Sciences” concluded here today in Guru Nanak Bhavan Auditorium of Guru Nanak Dev University. This seminar was organized by the Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences in the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as two hundred delegates from various parts of the country participated in the scientific meet and gave their deliberations on Plant Genome Analysis, Molecular Carcinogenesis, Wastewater Treatment, Medicinal Plants and Bacterial Diversity.PPN2102201713

Prof. Satwinderjeet Kaur, Head of the Department and Prof. Saroj Arora, Organizing Secretary told that several noted scientists from different institutes including Dr. Renu Wadhwa (AIST), Japan and Prof. R.K. Bhattacharya (BARC, Mumbai) attended the meet. Dr. T.R. Sharma, Director, NABI (Mohali), who was also the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session gave his talk on Plant Genome analysis for the Discovery of Novel Genes and their Utilization in rice breeding. Prof. Avinash Kaur Nagpal (Dean, Life Sciences) proposed the Vote of Thanks. In the seminar, various scientists and research scholars from various institutes including Jammu University, Punjabi University (Patiala), Doon University (Dehradun),  Punjab University (Chandigarh) displayed their scientific work in the poster session and awards were given to the best posters after critical evaluation by the panel of the judges.
