On the occasion of World Asthma Day a talk was organised at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road , Amritsar to raise awareness among students about the prevention and precaution of Asthma. World Asthma Day is an annual event organised by the Global Initiative for Asthma to improve asthma awareness and care around the world. A renowned doctor of Amritsar , Dr. Mandeep Singh, DM Pulmonology was the honourable guest who addressed the students and talked about the disease. He said that pollution of air is the main cause as the tiny suspended particles in air penrate deep into the airways and lungs to cause asthma, bronchitis and other related diseases . He said that those suffering from asthma must take care of the triggers like pollen, food colour, smoking, poorly ventilated homes; dust etc to prevent asthma attack. He added that asthma can be controlled with the help of medicines and inhalor. In the end, he advised the students to take care of their surroundings and try to prevent pollution by planting more and more trees. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school, thanked Dr. Mandeep Singh for his time and informative address. She presented a token of gratitude to him and said that there was a dire need to join hands and work for a pollution and dust free atmosphere. Our materialistic attitude is paying heavy on us only. She also added that asthmatic patients should take care of themselves and avoid things as suggested by the doctor.
Regional Director , Punjab Zone A , Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar , Principal DAV College , Hathi Gate , Amritsar sent a message for the students on this occasion, advising them to become responsible to towards their environment and prevent it from further deterioration to avoid increase in the rate of asthma patients.
