Amritsar, April 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road celebrated the birth
anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj Ji with reverence. A havan was organised in the school premises. On this occasion a special programme was organised which was dedicated to the teachings and ideals of this great educationist and ardent follower of Arya Samaj. He was born on April 19, 1864 in Hoshiaspur district. He was a follower of Swami Dayanand, the founder of Dayanand Anglo –Vedic School system.
The students highlighted his philosophy and informed about his works for the upliftment of society. He was a great nationalist who was an untiring relief worker and was an epitome of excellence. The students sang devotional songs, DAV Anthem and recited poems highlighting the vision of the great scholar for the society, which included widow remarriage, abolition of Sati and child marriages. He was against caste distinctions also.
Regional Officer Punjab Zone-A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school sent their best wishes on this occasion and advised the students to follow the path shown by the great visionary.
Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school blessed the students.She said that Mahatma Hansraj Ji had always propagated enlightenment in the form of education, with an appeal to despise social evils. She asked the students to take inspiration from his life and make positive contribution to the society.
