Amritsar, April 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – All the Principals of 18 Colleges and Schools under Khalsa College
Charitable Society (KCCS), today contributed their half month salary each to Prime Minister Cares Fund, meant to fight deadly Coronavirus. Apart from this Rs.1.25 lakhs was also added by the Society from its own account and in total Rs.10.00 lakh was donated to the Fund, said the management officials.
KCCS honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said the Principals offered their 15 day salaries for the donation which was despatched to the central fund. He said apart from this the fashion designing departments from Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) and Khalsa College for Women (KCW) are preparing 20,000 high quality masks which will be handed over to district administration shortly.
“There is also an offer from the staff members to donate one day salary which will be accordingly made available to state administration for the fight against the Covid-19 which is taking the whole world into its grip”, said Chhina adding that Khalsa College of Pharmacy will also donate 2000 sanitizers in the coming days.
He said they will also provide sanitizers and masks to all the staff members and students of Colleges/Schools under the Society, which will be approximately 30,000. He appreciated the efforts of the state and Central government under Prime Minister Narendera Modi for taking stern measures to deal with the emergency situations arising from the spread of the Coronavirus.
KCCS finance secretary Gunbir Singh who was present at the occasion today also praised the efforts of the Principals and staff for making collections for the cause. “We all must join hands to fight the deadly disease”, said Gunbir Singh. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh and others met honourary secretary and offered to make more efforts in the future for generating help and assistance to fight the coronavirus outbreak
