Coronavirus Fight – KCCS donate 21,000 Masks, 2100 Sanitizers to Distt. Administration

 Amritsar, April 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Soon after 18 Colleges and Schools Principals of all Khalsa institutions PPNJ2104202010

under Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS) contributed their half-month-salary each to Prime Minister Cares Fund, more than 21,000 masks and 2100 sanitizers were today handed over to the civil authorities. The material was meant for the staff, farmers bringing wheat crop to Mandis and the general public.

            Fighting a tough battle against deadly Coronavirus outbreak district administration head, Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon and Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Singh reached the Khalsa College campus to receive the material. They said that wearing of the masks has been made compulsory, there was shortage of the material and such donation help the district administration to distribute the same further to the medical staff and general public.

            KCCS-run Khalsa institutions Principals and the Society itself had earlier donated Rs. 10 Lakhs to PM Cares Fund only last week and more donations will be collected for the Covid-19 relief funds in the coming days, said KCCS honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. He said the material was prepared by the students and teachers from the Fashion Designing Department of Khalsa College, Amritsar (KCA), Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Khalsa College of Nursing (KCN), Khalsa College of Chawinda Devi (KCCD) while the sanitizers were prepared by the students and staff of Khalsa College of Pharmacy (KCP) alone.

            He said the masks and sanitizers were of high quality which will be used by the district authorities in their fight against the Covid-19. “There is also an offer from the staff members to donate one day salary which will be accordingly made available for the relief work”, said Chhina. He added that the Khalsa Charitable Society was at the forefront to help the administration and the general public in the war against the deadly Coronavirus disease and we should all join hands to ward off the virus.

            DC SS Dhillon thanked the Khalsa management for the donations and said more such organizations in the city should come forward as the masks and sanitizers were most required item in the present time. He said they want to distribute the masks to the farmers bringing wheat to the grain markets these days to protect them from the virus spread. He requested the management to provide more material in the coming days and Chhina asked the staff and students to come forward and prepare more masks in nthe coming days, which the Principals happily agreed.

            Chhina appreciated the efforts of district administration, the state and Central authorities especially Prime Minister Narendera Modi for taking stern measures to deal with the emergency situations arising from Covid spread. KCA Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, KCP Principal Dr. RK Dhawan, KCW Principal Dr. Manpreet Kaur, KCN Principal Dr. Kamaljit Kaur and others were present during the program.
