One-week Leadership Development & 3-days Interaction Programme organized

Amritsar, January 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The UGC- Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University organized a one-week Leadership Development Programme for senior Teachers which were concluded recently.

            Senior IAS officer Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi Chairperson Punjab Police Complaints Authority was the keynote speaker in the valedictory session. Vice Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu who is the Chief patron of HRDC welcomed Dr. Kalsi.

            In his keynote address Dr. Kalsi lauded Prof Sandhu for his arduous efforts to bring Guru Nanak Dev University in the top league higher education institutions in the country. Dr. Kalsi emphasized on the need to build strong university-industry linkage and strengthening the institutional alumni. He said that the teachers need to understand the requirements of industry and then work on these. He also deliberated that the teachers now need to be more technology savvy. The one thing that the pandemic has taught all of us is that the future belongs to techno-literate.

            Course Coordinator Prof. Saroj Arora presented the summary of the programme, which involved lectures from eminent personalities including Dr. Karan Avtar Singh Ex-Chief Secretary and currently Chairman Punjab Water Regulation Development Authority (PWRDA) Prof Ved Prakash- Former Chairman UGC, Prof. Rama Kandi Palli- Advisor NAAC, Prof S.S Behl- Dean Academic Affairs GNDU, Prof Hardeep Singh- Dean Student Welfare GNDU,  Prof. Pawan Kumar from IIM Indore,  Prof M.M. Pant, Prof. S.S Chahal- Former Vice Chancellor Maharaja Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology Udaipur, to name a few. Deputy Director Dr Rajbir Bhatti presented the vote of thanks.

            Meanwhile, the interaction Programme for Ph.D. and Post-doctoral Fellows was also organized. Prof Mehraj-ud-Din Mir Vice Chancellor Central University of Kashmir was the keynote speaker. He deliberated on the bottlenecks in research and how to overcome these. The programme was attended by research scholars from several universities including GNDU and was coordinated by Prof. Renu Bhardwaj, Director of Research of the University. The participants got useful lessons on various aspects of research such as research methodology, research ethics, effective research writing, design of experiments etc. from several distinguished speakers from AIIMS New Delhi, JNU New Delhi, Shoolini University Solan, Dayanand Sagar University Bangalore apart from GNDU.
