Amritsar, October 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur today held a meeting with the principals and representatives of the Sikh Missionary Colleges that produce pracharaks (preachers) for flourishing the Sikh faith and held a discussion with them about jointly taking forward the ‘Dharam Prachar Lehar’ (campaign to flourish Sikh faith).
During the meeting, Bibi Jagir Kaur urged the representatives of the colleges to play a supportive role in the ‘Ghar Ghar Andar Dharamsaal’ movement launched by the SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC), and all of them agreed and announced to provide services of the students of their respective colleges.
Notably, SGPC’s DPC had in the recent past launched a door-to-door campaign to spread Sikh faith in all the villages of Punjab, under which, Sikh faith is being preached in 200 villages simultaneously. Under this campaign, SGPC’s preacher stays in a village for one week and connect the Sangat (congregation) as well as Sikh youth and children with Gurbani and Sikh history.
To expand this campaign, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur held a meeting with the principals and representatives of the Sikh Missionary Colleges managed by the SGPC as well as those run by various Sikh organisations.
Bibi Jagir Kaur informed that as per the Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) approved by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, various Sikh Missionary Colleges are functioning which have rendered remarkable services in the field of preaching by producing a large number of preachers, raagis, and tabla players.
“It is now time to move forward jointly in the field of religious propagation, for which an important meeting was held. Every Sikh missionary body has expressed its commitment to support the SGPC and to contribute to the ongoing Dharam Prachar Lehar. Under this campaign, the Sikh faith is spread from door to door in every village of Punjab. Now with the provision of services to be offered by the students of the Sikh Missionary Colleges, this campaign will be greatly expanded and it will be possible to reach villages on a larger scale instead of 200 at a time”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur also announced that in the month of October a conference would be organized for the students who have graduated from Sikh Missionary Colleges and this trend would be continued in the future also. Representatives of 26 Sikh Missionary Colleges participated in today’s meeting and shared their views.
Bibi Jagir Kaur honored each representative with the Guru’s blessing Siropao (robe of honour).
In the meeting, OSD to SGPC President Dr. Amrik Singh Latifpur, assistant secretary Simarjit Singh, honorary secretary Gurmeet Singh, Dr. Chamkaur Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal and others were present.
