Amritsar, 13 Nov (Punjab Post Bureau) – President & activists of DCC(R) Amritsar, CPI, APP, local area committees today staged a protest under Gumtala bridge blocking traffic from both sides of road against the installation of grills on airport road blocking the shops and connecting roads. A protest march started from Gumtala bridge and U-turned from Mirankot Chowk spreading awareness about the anti commoner policy of the government. Speakers from various political parties ensured complete support to the agitators who are fighting for their businesses which will be ruined if the grill is installed. Addressing the the people assembled Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that this grill is one of the many tactics employed by Punjab government to somehow devour the public funds. He said that the civil servants of the state are forced to bring in various plans through which the leaders could easily get commissions. He added that shops and other businesses on this road will finish off if this grill got installed. The protest lasted for 3 hours as ADCP Ketan Patil and Tehsildar-II Sanjeev Kumar received the memorandum and assured for some solution to the problem. Aujla informed the press that if the administration doesn’t come out with some perfect solution further protests will be staged.
