Kisani Andolan strengthened brotherhood – Harjinder Singh Dhami
Amritsar, December 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised
a special religious congregation after the bhog (culmination) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall associated with Sri Harmandar Sahib to offer gratitude to the Guru Sahib, on blessing with the victory of the Kisani Sangharsh (farmers’ struggler).
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC members and leaders of different farm jathebandis (unions) attended this event especially.
On this occasion, the SGPC especially honoured the leaders of the farm jathebandis associated with Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), who had participated in the farmers’ struggle. Earlier, SGPC President welcomed the farm leaders at the plaza outside Sri Harmandar Sahib.
Speaking on the occasion Harjinder Singh Dhami said that with the immense grace of the Guru Sahib the farmers’ struggle has been won.
“It is a blessing of the Guru Sahib that on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Parkash Purb (birth anniversary), the Prime Minister of India announced the repeal of three black laws enacted by the Government of India. This farmers’ movement has revived history. Due to the stubborn attitude of the government, more than 700 farmers lost their lives but the government finally had to back down. This movement has strengthened the brotherhood. Proving to be the younger brother of Punjab, Haryana strongly competed in every difficult time”, said Harjinder Singh Dhami.
SGPC President congratulated the entire country on the victory of the farmers’ struggle and thanked the Punjabis living abroad for their full support in the struggle.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union Rajewal President Balbir Singh Rajewal addressing on behalf of the farm Jathebandis said, “Many difficulties were encountered during the farmers’ morcha but by the grace of Paramatma (one light) every difficulty of the farmers was removed. The victory of this morcha revived the 300-year-old history of Punjabis. We have achieved such a victory after 300 years. In this morcha, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and the farmers from every state of the country gave their full support.”
Rajewal specially thanked the SGPC for honouring the leaders of the farm jathebandis. SGPC also honoured BKU Charuni national president Gurnam Singh Charuni from Haryana state.
Earlier, Gurbani Kirtan was performed by hazuri raagi jatha of Bhai Simarpreet Singh of Sri Harmandar Sahib and dhadi jatha of Bhai Harpal Singh Dhand connected the Sangat with ballads.
Meanwhile, farmer’s leaders Rakesh Tikiat, Shri Lakhanpal and Yudhvir Singh were honoured later by SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami and SGPC members on their arrival at the office.
On this occasion, Rakesh Tikait said that he vowed that after the victory of Kisani Morcha he would return home after thanking the Guru at Sri Harmandar Sahib. He prayed at the feet of Guru and sought guidance in the future.
Rakesh Tikait said, “This morcha was started by praying from this holy place of Guru Sahib Ji and it is due to the blessings of the Guru that the morcha has been won.”
Tikait also thanked the SGPC President for the honour. Meanwhile, Yudhvir Singh thanked the SGPC for its services.
